Postcards from Home World and Kansas City Ballet Premieres: February 19, 2004, Lyric theatre, Kansas City, Missouri The work depicts American society’s sense of new reality on life during the time of war. Ms. York chose Darius Milhaud’s, Creation of the World (1923), in which the composer used the prevalent jazz style of the 1920’s that so influenced his writing.
