The gypsy gaiety of the pas de deux  from Donizettiana is the work of Todd Bolender and was staged for the guest artists for these performances.  Bolender's full ballet was first staged in 1967 for the State Opera and Ballet Company in Frankfurt, Germany, and has since been performed by the Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Winnipeg Ballet.  The music for the full work is an compilation of operatic themes including Donizetti's La Favorita.
