Title: Marketing Intern
Reports to: Marketing Manager
Description
Kansas City Ballet is a 25-member professional ballet company with a $5 million annual budget and also has a school of 600 students. The marketing department is responsible for promoting every aspect of the organization.
The marketing summer internship program is an opportunity for an area student to gain valid work experience, and for the marketing department to receive extra support on entry-level tasks. The unpaid intern will be responsible for several projects fitting their experience and the needs of the marketing department. Upon the completion of a successful internship, the student will receive two BARRE season tickets to the ballet and an excellent addition to their resume.
This position is temporary and is expected to last approximately six months, depending on the intern's availability. The Marketing Intern needs to be a team player with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
Major responsibilities include: write articles for our print newsletter and enews, distribute season collateral to businesses, help design a marketing plan for the new Kansas City Ballet building and school, assist in updating our website using Dreamweaver, assist the box office and telemarketing staff in tasks TBD, update window displays, and work with the different departments at KCB to receive experiences throughout the organization and to interact with different personalities.
Qualifications
Superior customer service and communication skills; detail-oriented self-starter able to multi-task; must be a team player and work well under pressure; excellent writing skills; highly competent with Microsoft products; experience with Adobe products is a plus
Preferred but not required
Has or is working towards a degree in marketing, journalism or public relations.
